Being able to capture sunlight, I feel, is one of the most powerful elements in creating a vibrant painting. In this four day workshop based on Painting the Impressionist Watercolor Paintings the book I co-authored with Linda Gottlieb, one of my students, you will learn to paint sunlight. I will introduce the color principles on the first day of the workshop using simple still life arrangements set up outdoors and will increase the complexity each day. We will study compositional elements and I will encourage you to do at least three studies each day in order to increase your painting speed. This workshop provides an excellent foundation for landscape painting.
